Good for a sunny border or mini meadow.

Habitat: Grassland, open woodland and hedgerow.

Height: 10-60cm

Growth Type: Perennial

Position: Full sun or semi-shade

Soil Preference: Wide range, preferring poor, acidic soil

    Jumbo plug plant (70cc)

     

    A good bumblebee plant which is noted for attracting wildlife.

     

    A valuable source of nectar and pollen late in the season.

     

    Becoming rare in the wild due to loss of hedgerows, meadows and woodland coppicing.

     

    Advised to plant in informal groups to encourage recognition and attract bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.

     

    NB Until recently this species was known by the old botanical name of Stachys officinalis
